Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as you ever can. John Wesley

Here are some key skills that you can help your children with at home:
  • Practise forming letters correctly with a good pencil grip
  • Work on writing simple consonant, vowel, consonant words eg. cat, by being a robot and splitting up the words into the sounds which they can hear
  • When children are ready encourage them to plan a setence, remember it and try to write it down - thinking about which word comes next, what sounds can they hear, finger spaces between words and a full stop at the end
  • If children can write sentences independently encourage them to use a capital letter and full stop, to make them more interesting by joining sentences together with "and", "so", "but", "if", "because", etc. and using adjectives
